Vietnam's industrial production increases 9.3 pct in 11 months

HANOI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national index of industrial production in the first 11 months of this year rose 9.3 percent on-year, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Monday.

Main driver of the growth, the processing and manufacturing sector, climbed up 14.4 percent, contributing 10.1 percentage points to the overall growth.

Regarding main industrial products, television sets enjoyed the highest growth in output - 30.1 percent on-year, followed by raw steel and iron with a growth rate of 26.7 percent; laminated steel 16.9 percent, and urea 13.4 percent.

Meanwhile, coal production dropped 1 percent, automobiles down 6.3 percent, natural gas down 7.2 percent, and crude oil down 10.6 percent.

Vietnamese localities with biggest industrial production in the first 11 months of this year include northern Bac Ninh province with 35.5 percent, northern Hai Phong province with 20 percent, northern Thai Nguyen province with 18.3 percent, and southern Binh Duong province with 10.4 percent.
