MADRID, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Spain's car sales rose by 12.4 percent in November when compared with the same month a year earlier, according to data released on Friday.

The Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC), the Federation of Association of Dealers of the Automotive sector (FACONAUTO) and the Association of Car Dealers (GANVAM) reported that purchases reached 104,170 in November.

Purchases made by individuals increased by 13.4 percent in November year-on-year to 62,283, companies purchased 33,425 cars, a 8.8 percent rise, and renting companies bought 8,462 cars, up 20.6 percent.

Adolfo Randulfe, director of communication at ANFAC, said November data was positive as sales had surpassed 100,000 unities in one month.

Lorenzo Vidal de la Pena, president of GANVAM, emphasized that confidence had returned to pre-crisis levels.

"Families are setting aside their reservations to spend money", he said, adding that incentives were needed to renew Spanish fleet, one of the oldest in Europe.

Raul Morales, director of communication at FACONAUTO, said November data were in line with the prediction of 1.2 million car purchases for this year. Enditem
