KATHMANDU, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and 25 injured in a passenger bus accident at Phisling area of southern Chitwan district of Nepal on Wednesday morning, Police said.

"The accident took place after a bus heading from capital Kathmandu to Arghakhanchi, a southwestern district of Nepal, plunged around 60-meter down to Trishuli river at around 9.15am," Shiva Sharma, deputy superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Chitwan, told Xinhua.

Sharma, who was at the accident site, said that the bus carrying the passengers had remained drowned unseen in the river until Wednesday evening.

Police have not confirmed the number of passengers travelling on the bus. "We cannot deny additional causalities as bus remains drowned," Sharma said.

After the incident, those injured were sent to hospitals in Kathmandu and Chitwan.

Police have not identified the reason behind the accident. But Sharma said that bus might have struck a truck before being skidding down to the river because there was the presence of the truck near the accident site with mark of strike.
