PARIS, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- France condemned late on Tuesday "with the utmost firmness" the new missile test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), reiterating calls for more sanctions.
Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian said in a statement that the DPRK's move was "a violation of the United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions, undermines the non-proliferation regime and endangers regional and international security."
"It's more than ever, the time to increase pressure and sanctions (against Pyongyang)," Le Drian said
The European Union (EU) defines the move as "a further unacceptable violation" of its international obligations, and the UN Security Council calls for an urgent meeting Wednesday afternoon to discuss the DPRK's latest Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) launch.
The DPRK successfully test-fired a newly developed ICBM early Wednesday morning, according to the country's Korean Central Television.
