Vietnamese comedy, Singaporean film top Vietnam Film Festival

HANOI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A comedy won the best Vietnamese feature film award and a Singaporean film grabbed the best ASEAN film award at the 2017 Vietnam Film Festival which concluded on Tuesday in Vietnam's central Da Nang city.

The Vietnamese comedy "Em Chua 18" made ticket revenues of 169 billion Vietnamese dong (about 7.5 million U.S. dollars), the biggest ever revenue of a film screen in Vietnam. The previous revenue record was 168.9 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 7.5 million U.S. dollars) by Hollywood movie "Kong: Skull Island."

Kaity Nguyen, who played a grade student in "Em Chua 18," received the best actress title. The best actor title belonged to Quy Binh in "Bao Gio Co Yeu Nhau."

Vu Ngoc Dang won the best feature film director title for "Hot Boy Noi Loan 2."

The 2017 Vietnam Film Festival had one new award named ASEAN Film, and this award was given to "A Yellow Bird" of Singapore.
