RAMALLAH, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian unity government declared Tuesday it will take back the public sector employees in the Gaza Strip, who were forced to quit their jobs after the Islamic Hamas movement violently seized control over the coastal enclave in 2007.
The government said in an email press statement after its weekly cabinet meeting that is has requested all ministers to arrange the integration of the former employees back into the governmental bodies.
A legal committee is looking into the situation of the government employees as part of the national reconciliation process as per the agreement signed between Hamas and Fatah party in Cairo on Oct. 12.
The committee will look into the situation of the employees appointed by Hamas government after it's take over of Gaza as well, said the statement.
According to Aref Abu Jarad, the Palestinian public service employees syndicate n Gaza, the number of employees reached 17,000, 10,000 of whom has already went back to their jobs in the Health and Education ministries.
A senior Egyptian security delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip on Monday to observe the implementation of an internal Palestinian reconciliation agreement reached in Cairo in light of some difficulties cited by Fatah officials regarding the empowerment of the government in Gaza, the take over of security bodies and the disarming of Hamas militants.
Fatah and Hamas welcomed the visit of the Egyptian delegation to follow up the implementation of the reconciliation Egypt brokered agreements over handing over administrative and security power to the PNA consensus government.
