HYDERABAD, India, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Round up the beggars, plant trees and repave the streets, for Ivanka is here!

That's what the Indian city of Hyderabad has been committed to for the past week ahead of U.S. first daughter Ivanka Trump's visit, Daily Mail reported.

U.S. President Donald Trump's 36-year-old daughter arrived in India late Monday night for the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit. She is expected to give a keynote speech at the summit, dine with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also attend a women-focused symposium.

In spite of her short stay, the Southern Indian city went to great lengths renovating the areas that Ivanka will pass through.

The bustling city displaced beggars off the streets, painted and planted trees, and tidied up roadways -- a beautification project criticized by some for its sole purpose to impress Trump's daughter.

"I think it's overrated, honestly,' said 18-year-old engineering student Bhavani P., referring to Ivanka's visit. "They are cleaning up roads. They are decorating just because she's coming."

However, some local residents say they are "proud" of the fact that Ivanka is visiting Hyderabad over Mumbai or Delhi.

In terms of security, authorities have deployed more than 10,000 personnel around the high-profile summit.

Reports said during her visit, Ivanka is expected to visit the old city as well as the Charminar, the iconic symbol of Hyderabad.
