BELGRADE, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Red Star continues its losing streak in the regular season of the Euroleague, falling on Thursday in Belgrade to Spanish outfit Baskonia by 81-85.

Baskonia took the initiative from the beginning of the match played in front of 5,500 spectators at the Belgrade Arena, and tightly won the first two quarters and built a 9-point-lead by halftime thanks to Tornike Shengelia and Janis Timma, who scored most points before the break.

Red Star managed to reduce the lead by the end of the third quarter by 2 points to 57-64 with a good performance from Ognjen Dobric and Mathias Lessort, and managed to keep up the pace, making the finale of the match quite dramatic.

But the Serbian team did not have enough strength in the final minutes to overcome the Spanish team led by Johannes Voigtmann, who scored the most points of the match.

Red Star has won only two and lost seven matches in the competition, and it is at the bottom of the table, while this is the fourth victory for Baskonia.

Red Star will play the next game in Madrid against Spanish side Real, while Baskonia will host Turkish club Fenerbahce.
