ACCRA, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ghana moved one place up to rank 51st in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.
The Black Stars, despite gaining six points to increase their total point accumulation from 651 to 657, dropped aplace down to the ninth on the continental ranking table this month.
Ghana's one-position jump comes on the back of a one-all draw against Egypt in the final round of the FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the China-built Cape Coast sports stadium.
Senegal have risen to 23rd, their highest-ever position on the global ladder, on the back of securing a first World Cup place since 2002.
The West Africans are now the top-ranked African nation, having leapfrogged fellow Russia 2018 qualifiers Tunisia and Egypt.
Ghana failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and have now poised to annex qualification to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) whose qualifiers resume next March.
