YEREVAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russia will continue supporting the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said here Tuesday.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian, Lavrov said the elements to resolve the problem have been summarized in numerous documents since 2007 and deposited with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) secretary general.

Russia, with other co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, will analyze the situation and act to settle the conflict, he added.

Nalbandian said Armenia is willing to continue cooperating with the co-chairs. Meetings at the level of foreign ministers and presidents will be held to address the issue.

Lavrov arrived in the Armenian capital from Baku, Azerbaijan, on Monday.

The United States, France and Russia are the three co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group tasked with mediation between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Nagorno-Karabakh, an enclave in southwestern Azerbaijan, attempted to secede with calls for merging with Armenia. The conflict started in the 1980s and continued till a cease-fire in 1994.

In April 2016, however, fresh violence erupted in the form of the "Four Day War" between the Armenia-backed Nagorno-Karabakh forces and Azerbaijan, leaving scores of soldiers dead on both sides.
