PARIS, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A violent blaze ravaged a police complex in Grenoble of eastern France overnight, leaving casualties worth millions of euros, a regional television reported on Tuesday.

A fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) in the building where "one or more people would have entered just before the start of the fire," France 3-regions said.

The damage is already estimated at several million euros, the report added.

According to the report, the fire seemed to be a criminal act.

Recent months, far-left groups had attacked police complex housing in Grenoble to protest against the trial of nine of them on charges of firebombing in an assault on two police officers in Paris last year.
