ISLAMABAD, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least two militants were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Pakistan's southern Balochistan Province on Tuesday, local media reported.

The security forces conducted a search operation after being tipped-off about the presence of militants in Turbat area, said Geo News, quoting local security officials, adding that the deceased identity has yet to be verified.

During the operation, the militants opened fire on the security forces, forcing them to retaliate which resulted in the killing of two insurgents, the report added.

According to a senior security official, one security personnel was also martyred and three others were injured in the operation.

The security forces have launched a search operation for suspects who escaped from the site shortly after the exchange of fire.

The search operation has been conducted in the same area where 20 bullet-riddled bodies were recovered over the past week.

Inter-Services Public Relations, the country's military media wing, informed on Nov. 17 that a key terrorist involved in killing of 15 people in Turbat had been killed during an intelligence-based operation by security forces.
