JAKARTA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian disaster management agency unveiled that the 5.7-magnitude quake hitting eastern Indonesia on weekend left one people dead, nearly 300 building destroyed, and evacuation, an official said on Tuesday.

Spokesman of national disaster management agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho disclosed that a total of 12 churches, one school building and 281 houses were devastated after the Saturday's quake, he told Xinhua in a text message.

The quake also forced nearly 500 people to flee home and take shelters at safer grounds, the official unveiled.

The quake triggered panic and black out in the area, said Sutopo.

The quake centered at 37 km northwest of North Maluku province with the depth at 10 km under sea bed, he said.

Several weaker aftershocks followed the main shock, said Sutopo.
