TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- A senior Iranian official warned French President Emmanuel Macron against what he called meddling in Iran's internal defense affairs, Press TV reported on Saturday.

Ali Akbar Velayati, Iran's Supreme Leader's advisor, made the remark in a reaction to Macron's recent comments when he said that Iran's ballistic missile program had "to be curtailed."

"It is not in Mr. Macron and France's interest to interfere in the missile issue and the Islamic Republic's strategic affairs, on which we are very sensitive," Velayati was quoted as saying.

"Such interference will have no impact other than diminishing the French government's credibility in Iran's eye," Velayati said, stressing that Tehran would permit no one to interfere in Iran's missile program.

Iran would never negotiate over its missile program, he said. "No country would bargain over its national interests," he added.
