SHENYANG, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Parts of northeast China's Liaoning Province saw their first snow of this winter on Friday, with some of the expressways under traffic control and ships returning to harbor.

Local authorities said, the province has been under an onslaught of snow, gales and dropping temperatures. The temperature of the provincial capital Shenyang has dropped below zero degree Celsius. @ Seven expressways were closed in the morning but opened later as the snow stopped. Most passenger ships at the province's ports stopped operations due to strong winds.

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) website said the cold snap would last for three days, and temperatures in parts of Anhui, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong and Zhejiang will plunge by up to 12 degrees Celsius.
