WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The United States will provide 4.3 million U.S. dollars in funding to support energy diversification in the Caribbean, said the State Department on Thursday.
The funding will provide energy-related technical assistance, grant funding for project preparation, and new opportunities for U.S. energy firms and exports, according to a statement released by the State Department.
The announcement of the funding was first made on Wednesday at the U.S. and Caribbean Prosperity Roundtable held in Miami, Florida, an event bringing together Caribbean ministers and U.S. executives from the private sector to spur investment, said the statement.
The roundtable also affirmed the U.S. government's commitment to beef up the security in Caribbean.
