30 cycling teams to compete in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

JAKARTA, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Cyclists from 30 nations will feature a race in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia this year, a government official said on Thursday.

The sport event so called "Tour de Timor" is scheduled to be from Dec. 9-12 this year, secretary at the provincial tourism and creative economy office Welly Rame Rohimone revealed.

"The route of the event is only in Timor island. The participants will start from Betun of Malaka on December 9. The cyclists are expected to end the route on Dec. 12 in Kupang city," he was quoted by Antara news wires.

Local administration would help support the event by providing meals and other facilities for the participants, the official said.

The international sport event is expected to help promote and boost tourism industry in the area, according to Welly.
