Slovenian leaders voice support for Macedonia's bid to join EU, NATO

LJUBLJANA, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev concluded his first official visit to Slovenia on Tuesday with Slovenian support for its efforts to join EU and NATO.

When meeting Zaev, Slovenian parliament speaker Milan Brglez reiterated that Slovenia supported Macedonia's efforts and was willing to share its experience and knowledge with Macedonia, the speaker's office said in a press release.

He believed that the Macedonian government should focus on adopting and implementing reforms that are key for its EU accession, according to the report by Slovenian Press Agency.

Zaev was quoted as saying in the press release that Macedonia was focusing on reforms in the judiciary, the media, public administration, security services, the fight against organised crime and corruption.

He expected his country to make headway as regards NATO and EU membership. Brglez meanwhile expressed Slovenia's wish that NATO's next expansions would include Macedonia, the release said.

Zaev had a similar talks on Monday with Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar, focusing on Macedonia's efforts to join the EU and NATO.

On Tuesday morning, Zaev and the Slovenian Foreign Ministry hosted a business breakfast for companies interested in the Macedonian market.
