AMMAN, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Tuesday stressed on the importance of Japan's role in regional issues in the Middle East including the peace process, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi stressed on the key ties between Jordan and Japan in various areas, adding that ties are witnessing a constant growth.
At a meeting in Amman with National Security Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister Kintaro Sonora, the minister voiced Jordan's support to the positive role played by Japan especially in supporting the peace process.
The minister stressed on the importance of an initiative by Japan that calls for peace and stability in the Middle East and supporting the Palestinian economy.
He stressed on Jordan's support to the initiative as part of political efforts seeking to find a just and permanent solution to the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state in line with the international legitimacy solutions and the 2002 Arab peace initiative.
Safadi also stressed on cooperation between the two countries in fields of economy, military and security, calling for more cooperation in combating terrorism.
The Japanese official voiced his country's appreciation to Jordan's role and efforts in making peace and stability in the Middle East, adding that Japan was keen on increased cooperation with Jordan.
Also Tuesday, King Abdullah II of Jordan received the Japanese official and looked into continued cooperation between the two sides.
Discussions also covered efforts exerted to revive the peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis and war on terrorism as part of a holistic strategy.
