Sudan expresses condolences over Iraq-Iran deadly earthquake victims

KHARTOUM, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Sudan government on Monday expressed condolences to the peoples and governments of Iraq and Iran together with the families of the victims of the deadly earthquake which hit Iraq-Iran border areas.

"Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the name of Sudan government and people, expresses its sincere condolences to the Iraqi and Iranian peoples and to the families of the victims of the deadly earthquake which hit the Iraqi-Iranian border areas," said the ministry in a statement Monday.

The ministry expressed full solidarity of Sudan government and people with the Iraqi and Iranian peoples in this humanitarian plight, expressing hope that its impact would be contained as soon as possible.

A 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit the northern border region between Iran and Iraq, leaving at least 445 people dead and over 7100 others injured.

The quake's epicenter was located approximately 32 km south of the city of Halabja in a remote mountainous region of eastern Iraq, some 200 km north-east of Baghdad and 400 km west of Tehran, according to the United States Geological Survey. Enditem
