DUBAI, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, discussed on Monday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri the "brotherly relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples," state news agency WAM reported.

The official said that the meeting also discussed the latest developments on the Arab arena and the challenges and situations facing the security and stability of the region.

The two sides stressed the importance of consultation and coordination on efforts "to contain crises" and respond to them in cooperation and "Arab solidarity."

They also touched upon a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

The UAE and Egypt, along with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are part of the "Arab quartet" which cut diplomatic ties with fellow Gulf state Qatar in June this year, blaming the gas-rich country of supporting "extremism and terrorism." Qatar has denied the charges.
