TBILISI, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia (GDDG) party won five out of six mayoral runoff elections across the country, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said Monday.

The GDDG candidates scored decisive victories in Borjomi, Kazbegi, Khashuri, Kutaisi and Martvili constituencies, but narrowly lost to an independent candidate in Ozurgeti Municipality, according to the preliminary results released by the CEC.

The overall turnout in the runoff elections was only 33.24 percent, the CEC said.

On Sunday, Georgia kicked off the second round of municipal elections in the six cities, where no candidate cleared the 50 percent threshold during the first vote last month.

Georgia's local elections on Oct. 21 voted for 64 municipal mayors and 2,058 members of 64 city councils.

According to an earlier report of the CEC, the GDDG candidates won all the mayoral elections in the first vote except for the six cities.
