Jiang Lianshui (L) displays catching fish in a traditional way on a beach of Beiqi Village of Xiapu County, southeast China's Fujian Province, Nov. 9, 2017. Xiapu County, which boasts 480-km coastline and 69,333-ha of mud flat, is famous for its picturesque scenery of beaches and attracts groups of photography enthusiasts to shoot pictures. Thus a demand for models who can display catching fish in a traditional way is increased. 67-year-old Jiang Lianshui is one of those new models. Jiang changed his career from being a fisherman to working as a full-time model in 2007. He is satisfied with the new job with a higher payment because the fishing tradition is preserved and the villagers' income has been increased. About 29 homestays have been operated and two restaurants have opened in the village. In 2016, the county received nearly 2.76 million tourists and the tourism generated 2.06 billion yuan (310 million U.S. dollars) in revenue. The per capita income of villagers of Beiqi Village reached over 30,000 yuan (4517 U.S. dollars) in 2016. (Xinhua/Jiang Kehong)
