TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- A powerful earthquake measuring 7.2 magnitude destroyed eight Iranian villages in the Iraq-Iran border area on Sunday, Iran's state TV reported.
The earthquake measured at 7.2 magnitude and was felt in several Iranian provinces in the border area.
The earthquake has reportedly killed one person and injured 50 others in Iran, according to the state TV.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 32 km southwest of the Halabja area near the Iranian border at the depth of 33.9 km, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Enditem
