CAIRO, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia on Sunday urged the Arab League (AL) to hold an urgent meeting of Arab foreign ministers on what it calls Iran's interventions in the region, official MENA news agency quoted an AL official source as saying.

"Saudi Arabia requests the meeting to be held next Sunday," said the AL source.

The Saudi request comes amid continuous tension between the two rivals in the region, particularly in the conflicts in Syria and Yemen.

It also comes a week after the resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, who blamed Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah group for his decision.
