JERUSALEM, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday threatened to respond harshly if Gaza militants will revenge Israel's deadly bombing of a tunnel that crossed into Israel last month.

The Islamic Jihad vowed to respond with counter-attack after Israel demolished the tunnel in October, killing 12 militants.

"There are those who still amuse themselves these days by trying to renew attacks against Israel," Netanyahu told Israel's weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem.

"We will take a very firm stance against anyone who tries to attack us or attacks us from any area," he warned.

"In any event, we see Hamas responsible to any attack launched or organized from the Gaza Strip against us," he said.

The demolition of the tunnel marked an unusual burst of violence across the separation fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip, which has remained mostly quiet since Israel's 2014 offensive in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
