SKOPJE, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- All political parties in Macedonia have demonstrated the will to put the country's interests first and work together in the country's best interest, member of European Parliament Ivo Vajgl, also Rapporteur for Macedonia, told reporters on Friday.

After two-day talks with representatives of Macedonia's political parties, Vajgl told a press conference together with Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Tala Xhaferri that all parliamentary political parties had agreed in principle to the "Jean Monnet" dialogue.

The "Jean Monnet" initiative represents an informal opening of a dialogue without media presence, in an attempt to find a common ground on certain issues. The key is to bring positions closer on topics related to the integration process.

As a result of the talks held so far with heads of political parties here, Vajgl voiced confidence that the last week of January 2018 was a possible date for the first meeting here.

Such meeting will serve to tackle the Parliament's Rules of Procedures, the Code of Ethics for MPs and the rule of law, Vajgl noted.

He further said the European Parliament would provide full support to the enlargement process and opening of EU accession talks for Macedonia.

On his part, Xhaferi told Vajgl that the parliament was prepared to follow and fully implement EU recommendations, as according to him, they benefited Macedonian institutions and citizens.

Xhaferri said he hoped the next European Commission progress report on Macedonia opened the door for the start of Union accession talks.
