BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Liaoning, newly crowned at the 2017 National Games, suffered a surprising defeat to Tongxi 107-110 on Friday for the first time in the sixth round games of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.
When Lester Hudson hit a 3-pointer, Liaoning once had an 11-point lead in the second quarter, before Tongxi tied the game to complete the first half. Forward Guo Yifei then hit four 3-pointers in a row to help Tongxi establish a 15-point lead.
With 2.6 seconds remaining, Hudson scored a 3-pointer to narrow the gap to one. Tongxi started celebration as Dominique Jones made a pair of free throws to seal the victory for the hosts.
Tongxi scored a dozen 3-pointers out of 24 attempts, with Guo contributing half of them. Jones scored a game-high 38 points.
Hudson and Brandon Bass combined to score 64 points for Liaoning, while Guo Ailun only contributed nine points.
Shanghai beat Stephon Marbury-led Aolong 123-119 in overtime on Friday, extending its winning streak to three games.
Jimmer Fredette, a former NBA player, contributed a triple double of 54 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists for Shanghai, while Marbury only had four points in 38 minutes for Aolong.
Sichuan conceded to the defending champion Xinjiang 108-121 on the same day, losing all six games for the worst start of the season.
With five 3-pointers from Korambek Makhan and Darius Adams, Xinjiang built up a 32-18 lead, before Sichuan cut the deficit to five entering the second half.
Sichuan overtook the lead in the third quarter, thanking for 3-pointers from Jamaal Franklin and Meng Da. Xiralijan Muhtar and Adams helped Xinjiang recaptured the lead in the last quarter.
In other matches played on Friday, Guangdong smashed Bayi 106-92, becoming the only unbeaten team after six rounds. Guangsha was beaten by Guangzhou 116-118, suffering its first defeat. Beijing won over Shanxi 113-103, and Shenzhen crushed Jiangsu 110-102.
