RABAT, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Morocco has dismantled 10 terror cells since the beginning of 2017, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit said on Thursday.
Speaking before a parliament session, Laftit noted that the number of busted cells is decreasing year by year. Security services have destroyed 15 cells in 2016 and 23 in 2015.
However, the minister insisted that Morocco remained a target for terrorists who are plotting to undermine Morocco's security and recruit new people.
A total of 1,699 Moroccans have joined terror groups abroad, including some 929 people who joined the Islamic State (IS) group, the minister revealed.
He noted that some 225 terrorists had been sent into jail.
Some 596 terrorists were killed, while 213 returned to the North African country, he said.
