SKOPJE, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Macedonia is set to do everything in its power to catch the train and join the European Union (EU) alongside Montenegro and Serbia, Macedonia's Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov told reporters Thursday at a joint press conference with visiting Montenegrin counterpart Srdjan Darmanovic.

Dimitrov stressed that Macedonia would work more in order to convince the European Commission and its president Jean Claude Juncker that the document to be published in February should give room for Macedonia to make up for the delays.

"This will also be beneficial for the Euro-integration process," said Dimitrov regarding the statement of EC chief Juncker that Montenegro and Serbia would join the Union by 2025.

Moreover, Dimitrov noted that it would be good for the Balkans to have a regional race of reforms.

"The Balkans will either succeed or fail together. Macedonia is lucky and benefits from Montenegro's progress on the European path," the Macedonia's foreign minister said.

On his part, Montenegrin FM Darmanovic said Montenegro had gone through a tough period of EU accession negotiations.

He added that taking into account regional stability as a priority, the country worked towards faster EU and NATO integration of all countries, each assessed by individual achievements.

According to Darmanovic, the reforms are going well so there is no reason why Macedonia should not be included in this group.
