BRASILIA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Brazilian government released Wednesday its first bimonthly bulletin on Chinese investment in Brazil, which tracks the flow of Chinese investment in the country and serves as a registry of bilateral projects.

The report said that in August and September, four Chinese investment projects were confirmed for a total of more than 3.1 billion U.S. dollars.

It added that since 2003, 91 Chinese projects have been approved, with a value of more than 50 billion U.S. dollars.

According to the report, most Chinese foreign direct investment has focused on energy and mining, accounting for over 85 percent of inflows in the last decade.

Upon presenting the bulletin, Jorge Arbache, secretary of international affairs at Brazil's Ministry of Planning, said it would allow for a deeper and more detailed understanding about Chinese investments in his country.

"China has become, not only Brazil's main economic partner in the field of trade, but also in investments," he said.

Besides, the China-Brazil Investment Fund launched in May is "extremely important," according to Arbache. The fund will have an initial sum of 20 billion U.S. dollars to finance investment projects in Brazil that are of interest to both countries.
