Zambian judiciary says chief justice not injured in road accident

LUSAKA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's judiciary said Tuesday the country's chief justice was not injured in a road accident involving one death, denying media reports that she was in serious condition.

According to the reports, a vehicle coming from the opposite direction on a road in the country's central town of Kabw lost control and hit into Chief Justice Ireen Mambilima's vehicle.

Judiciary spokesperson Kalumba Chisambisha-Slavin said Mambilima was not in the vehicle which was involved in the accident and was not injured.

She said one vehicle of Mambilima's convoy was involved in the accident which left one person dead and three others with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo confirmed that it was one of the vehicles in the chief justice's convoy that was hit in the accident.
