PARIS, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Anti-terror units on Tuesday detained seven individuals in Paris suburbs and southeastern Alpes-Maritime region, a local daily reported.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 65 years, were arrested in Alpes-Maritimes, Saint-Denis and Val de Marne.

Some of the detainees, including several converted to Islam, have been already on police watchlist for radicalization, the daily Le Parisien reported.

According to the report, they planned an assault in southern city of Nice, where a truck driver rammed into the crowd killing 86 people in 2016.

The anti-terrorism raid was part of an investigation launched May for "criminal terrorist conspiracy," it added.

French police have foiled 11 terrorist assaults during the January-September period, according to official data.
