TRIPOLI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) announced on Monday that the EU Border Assistance Mission would soon return to the Libyan capital Tripoli.

The EU's Ambassador to Libya Bettina Muscheidt made her remarks during a meeting with the UN-backed Foreign Minister Mohamed Sayala in Tripoli.

Muscheidt pointed out that the mission is coordinating with the concerned ministries, particularly the Ministries of Interior and Justice, for the return of the mission.

The European official said that a number of assistance programs would be implemented in Libya, especially for children, as well as to stop immigration in cooperation with authorities.

Most foreign missions and embassies left Tripoli in 2014 following the violent clashes that broke out in the city between rival militias, which created the current political division in the country.

A number of embassies have recently returned to Tripoli, after security guarantees have been provided by the UN-backed Government.
