Jordan, Hungary stress keenness to boost ties in various areas

AMMAN, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan and President of Hungary Janos Ader discussed ties between the two countries and developments in the Middle East, the state-run Petra news agency reported on Monday.

In talks in Amman, the two leaders looked into regional and international developments, stressing keenness to boost ties in various areas.

The Jordanian leader, who said ties at the security and political level between the two sides are growing constantly, said there was a large room for increased economic cooperation between the two countries.

Jordan and Hungary are also witnessing an increased cooperation in the fields of education and culture, said King Abdullah.

The Hungarian president expressed his country's keenness to increase cooperation with Jordan, extending an invitation to the Jordanian leader to visit Hungary.

Voicing appreciation of Jordan's support to the Syrian refugees, the Hungarian president said Jordan's role was key in making peace in the region and in the war on terrorism.

Hungary, through the EU, calls for increasing aid to Jordan to help it cope with the consequences of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees that exceed 1.3 million.

"The EU needs to boost aid to Jordan," said the Hungarian leader.

Discussions also covered cooperation in fields of energy, water and agriculture. Talks also looked into the need for political solutions to the crises in the Middle East.

The two sides also underlined the need to restart peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution.

In this regard, King Abdullah said the lack of a just and last solution to the Palestinian issue is being taken advantage by radicals to undermine peace and security.

On Syria, they two sides stressed on the need for a political solution to address the crisis in the country.
