NICOSIA, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Cypriot government has repaid early part of its debt to the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), bringing the sovereign debt to below 100 percent of the island's annual turnover, the Finance Ministry said on Monday.
"This early repayment amounts to 614.9 million euros plus 6.3 million euros accrued interest and represents a projected reduction of the public debt to GDP ratio of 3.2 percentage points," the ministry's Public Debt Management Office said in a statement.
The repayment brought the public debt to Gross Domestic Product ratio down to 98.4 percent, or 18.42 billion euros.
