JAKARTA, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian foreign affairs ministry confirmed on Monday the arrest against an Indonesian man identified as a member of a terrorist group in the Philippines.

"Indonesian embassy has received notification from the Philippine authorities related to the arrest against Ilham Syaputra. The notification was received on Friday," ministry spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir said here.

He added that the embassy officials had made interviews and managed to retrieve information that he originated from North Sumatra capital of Medan. Besides, the embassy officials had also obtained information over his families in Medan as well as his colleagues in the city.

Syaputra was arrested last Wednesday when he crossed Lake Lanao in a bid to escape from conflict-ridden Marawi.

Indonesia has coordinated with related institutions in the Philippines over identification of nationals perished in Marawi battles.
