AMMAN, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday sent a cable to King Salman of Saudi Arabia condemning Yemen's Shiite Houthi rebels firing a missile on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday night, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

In the cable, the Jordanian leader stressed Jordan's support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia to preserve its security and stability and to stand up to all such cowardly attacks, which targets the security and stability of the country.

Also Sunday, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said the attack is a crime against humanity and reflects the criminal mindset of those behind it.

The minister voiced Jordan's full support to Saudi Arabia's efforts to preserve its security and commended the success of the Saudi armed forces in intercepting the ballistic missile.

Yemen's Shiite Houthi rebels fired a long-range missile on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday night, Houthi-controlled Saba news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Saudi government admitted that a Houthi missile targeted the capital Riyadh, saying the missile fell and exploded north of the airport, according to Saudi-run Al-Arabiya satellite TV.

It said there were no casualties reported.

This is the latest in a series of missile attacks by Houthis from Yemen towards Saudi cities since Saudi intervened in the Yemeni war more than two and a half years ago.
