NEW DELHI, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- A branch manager of a nationalized bank in northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old Russian woman, police said Saturday.
The bank manager was arrested on the complaint filed by the young woman.
"A manager of UCO Bank at Vrindaban branch, Mahendra Prasad Singh, has been arrested on a complaint filed by a Russian woman," a senior police official said. "In her complaint she told us the manger repeatedly raped her since she came to India on Sept. 17 this year."
The woman has been sent for medical examination, police said.
They came into contact with each other on social networking site Facebook in 2016.
The victim told police she came to India at the invitation of the banker and that she met another Russian woman who counselled her to file a complaint.
