TIRANA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Albanian economy is performing well in the medium term considering the current development trends, the country's central bank said Thursday in its quarterly monetary policy report.
Noting the monetary policies are adequate to support economy, the Bank of Albania (BoA) announced that its Supervisory Council has decided to keep the benchmark rate unchanged at 1.25 percent.
The report showed that Albania's economic activity continued to improve over the second and third quarters, driven by a favorable external environment and better domestic financial conditions.
The improvement in the economic environment is expected to support the return of inflation to target, within the first half of 2019, according to the BoA.
Meanwhile, overall inflationary pressures remained weak and inflation declined in the third quarter.
"This performance has confirmed that our current monetary policy stance is adequate, and has underlined the need for an even more accommodative monetary policy in the medium-term horizon," said the report.
