Vietnam, China pledge to further promote bilateral ties

HANOI, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam and China pledged here on Wednesday to further promote the development of bilateral relations.

The pledge came as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong met with Song Tao, special envoy of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping.

Song, who is also head of the CPC Central Committee's International Liaison Department, is visiting Hanoi to brief the Vietnamese side on the 19th CPC National Congress.

At their meeting, Song conveyed Xi's message that China and Vietnam should view the special significance of the bilateral relations from a higher vantage point and a deeper level, and China is ready to work with Vietnam to push the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and the socialist causes of the two countries to new horizons.

For his part, Nguyen Phu Trong thanked Xi's message and said Vietnam has paid close attention to and spoken highly of the great significance and achievements of the 19th CPC National Congress.

He congratulated Xi on his re-election as the general secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC as well as the elevation of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the party's guiding principles.

Nguyen Phu Trong said Vietnam is willing to join hands with China to push forward the development of the ties between the two parties and those between the two countries in the right direction that meets the requirements of the times.
