HONG KONG, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government is working on the development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park at full steam, an official of the HKSAR government said here Wednesday.

Nicholas Yang, secretary for Innovation and Technology of the HKSAR government, said at the HKSAR Legislative Council (LegCo) that the HKSAR government will strive to provide the first developable land for the park, which is in the Lok Ma Chau Loop, situated to the south of the Shenzhen river and falls within the boundary of Hong Kong, by 2021 to start building work.

The HKSAR government will seek funding from the LegCo for the construction of the advance works of the Main Works Package 1 in the first half of next year, Yang added.

To develop an international innovation and technology hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Innovation and Technology Bureau will maintain close communication with mainland authorities, he said.
