PHNOM PENH, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's famed Angkor Archeological Park received 1.94 million foreign visitors during the first 10 months of 2017, up 12 percent compared to the same period last year, an official statement said on Wednesday.

The ancient site earned gross revenue of 84.2 million U.S. dollars from ticket sales during the January-October period this year, up 71 percent over the same period last year, said the state-owned Angkor Enterprise's statement.

The sharp rise in revenue was due to the hike in ticket prices in February.

Most visitors to the historic site were Chinese, South Koreans and Americans.

The current entrance fee to the park is 37 U.S. dollars for a one-day visit, 62 U.S. dollars for a three-day pass, and 72 U.S. dollars for a week-long pass.

Located in northwestern Cambodia's Siem Reap province, the Angkor Archeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the country's most popular tourist destination.
