TEHRAN, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Iran will host the second International Exhibition of Meat and Related Industries known as Meatex in Tehran on Nov. 13, the Financial Tribune daily reported Tuesday.

Over 120 Iranian and international companies are expected to showcase their latest products, machinery, equipment and services at the four-day halal meat exhibition, the report said.

Companies from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Mongolia, the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates, are among the international participants.

The exhibition is the only specialized event for halal meat for Muslims, protein products and related industries in the world and the only meat industry exhibition in the Middle East.

"It is aimed at providing Iran's processed meat industry with domestic and foreign investments, supplying Iranian halal products to Muslim countries, especially in the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States and East European countries," said Hormoz Mahbod, executive manager of the exhibition.

Besides, Iran seeks to transfer technology and know-how in the field into the country, Mahbod added.

The global halal industry is worth 3.7 trillion U.S. dollars and Iran's share stands at around 300 million U.S. dollars.

Halal, an Islamic term meaning "permissible" or "lawful," is almost applied to every aspect of Muslims' lives, including food, clothing, banking and travelling.

The first Meatex was held on Nov. 1, 2016 in Tehran, which was attended by 53 domestic companies along with 14 foreign exhibitors.
