SARAJEVO, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- A Qatar Airways plane lands at the Sarajevo International Airport (SIA) on Tuesday, marking first flight between capitals of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Qatar, local media reported Tuesday.

This long-awaited flight was attended by the CEO of Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker who emphasized earlier that adding Sarajevo to Qatar Airways' global network will provide BiH passengers the connection with 150 destinations worldwide over the Hamad International Airport.

"Launching flights to Sarajevo is a significant step toward increasing our presence in Eastern Europe, and will provide our passengers with a new and exciting route to and from this remarkable city," Al Baker said.

The flight between Sarajevo and Doha will take place four times a week by an Airbus A320, featuring 12 seats in Business Class and 132 seats in Economy Class, the official website says.

As the first direct flight between BiH and Qatar, the service is a morning one, departing Doha at 06:40 a.m. and arriving in Sarajevo at 10:40 a.m. (both local time). The returning leg, meanwhile, departs Sarajevo just before the midday at 11:40 a.m. and arrives in Doha at 06:55 p.m.
