RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President Michel Temer was discharged Monday from the Sirio Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo after a three-day stay due to prostate problems.

Last week, as the Congress voted to either admit or dismiss two criminal charges against him, Temer was hospitalized in Brasilia due to a urologic blockage. He was discharged some hours later.

On Friday, Temer was admitted to the hospital to follow up on the treatment he had received in Brasilia. He was diagnosed with urinary obstruction due to an enlargement of the prostate.

He was initially expected to stay only overnight, but doctors said he needed an operation.

Temer will stay in Sao Paulo for a few days, as his doctors recommended him to rest. The president is expected to return to Brasilia on Wednesday.

In early October, Temer was diagnosed with a partial coronary obstruction. He is expected to be submitted to a catheterization procedure in the near future.

At the age of 77, Temer is Brazil's oldest president in office.
