KABUL, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. service member died after a chopper crashed in Afghan eastern Logar province on Friday, said a statement of NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission released here Saturday.

"A U.S. service member has died as a result of injuries sustained during a helicopter crash in Logar province, late Friday evening," the statement said.

Earlier on Saturday morning Taliban claimed that the armed group shot down a military helicopter in Khirwar district of the eastern Logar province killing all aboard.

However, the NATO-led RS statement confirmed that six more service members sustained injuries in the incident.

"We can confirm the crash was not the result of enemy action. We have full accountability of all personnel and the crash site has been secured. Six other U.S. crew members were injured in the crash and are all receiving medical treatment," the statement said.

However, the statement did not reveal the names and positions of the victims.
