HARARE, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, 65, has returned to South Africa for a medical review, barely two weeks after returning home from that country.

Local media reported Friday that Tsvangirai left for the neighboring country Wednesday accompanied by his wife, Elizabeth.

Tsvangirai has been to South Africa several times for treatment since he disclosed last year that he is suffering from colon cancer.

The veteran opposition politician, who has been Mugabe's main challenger since 2000, was airlifted to South Africa last month after suddenly falling ill while attending a party meeting in Kadoma town.

Tsvangirai has not been seen in public since returning from South Africa on Oct. 13.

His illness has sparked confusion and divisions within his opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) as some senior officials have publicly said he must resign on health grounds and pave way for a fit leader.

Despite ill health, Tsvangirai is leading an opposition alliance to contest against President Robert Mugabe, 93, in next year's elections.
