BERLIN, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- German companies in the country's information technology (IT) and communications technology sector have seen rapid growth in 2015, official figures published on Friday by the Federal Statistical Office (Statistisches Bundesamt) show.
Information technology and communication technology firms saw their revenue in 2015 rise by 23.1 billion euros (26.8 billion dollars), or 7.3 percent, compared to the previous year.
According to the Wiesbaden-based government statisticians, 103,210 German firms were active in the sector (plus 5.2 percent) and employed 1.1 million people (plus 3.1 percent) in 2015.
The Federal Statistical Office's data further showed that investment by information technology and communication technology entrepreneurs also rose significantly by 6 billion euros to 20.7 billion euros.
