DAMASCUS, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Friday slammed as a falsification of truth a recent report by the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) about Syria's forces alleged involvement in a chemical attack in Syria last April.

In a statement, responding to the OPCW report that was released on Thursday, the ministry said it totally rejects the report, saying it was made to suit the directives of the U.S. and the Western countries to practice more pressure on the Syrian government.

A day earlier, a UN-sponsored report by the OPCW, conducted by the Joint Investigation Mission, supported the initial findings which blamed Syria's Air Force for deploying sarin in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province last April.

The alleged attack reportedly left over 90 dead.

In its statement Friday, the ministry said it deplores the direct and indirect accusations in the latest report and the one before, saying they pose a "falsification of the truth and an alteration to all of the accurate information about what happened in Khan Sheikhoun."

The ministry said the report relied on testimonies from the "criminals" who carried out the attack.

The statement stressed that Syria doesn't have any chemical weapons.
